Frequently Asked Questions

Here we've collected some of our most frequently asked billiard questions:

How much space do I need for a table?

The following measurements reflect a slightly larger area than most charts recommend. Our measurements have been calculated to allow more adequate space to strike the cue ball in a normal manner (without extreme elevation of the cue stick) when it's frozen to the rail. Shorter than standard length cues are available for areas of obstructed play.

A common home size table is 4' x 8' (playing surface is 44" x 88"). Professional Tournament standard (and the size you find in most pool rooms) is a 4 1/2' x 9' table. Click here for Billiard Congress of America (BCA) current equipment specifications.

TABLE SIZE ROOM SIZE for full length 58" Cue
9' (50" x 100") Professional 14' 2" x 18' 4"
8' Oversize (46" x 92") 13' 10" x 17' 8"
8' (44" x 88") Home Size 13' 8" x 17' 4"
7' (39" x 78") 13' 4" x 16' 8"
6' (32" x 64") 12' 8" x 15' 4"

How do you measure a pool table to determine the size?

With a tape measure, measure across the width (shorter way) of the table, from the nose of one cushion (the edge where the ball strikes) to the nose of the opposite cushion.

a 4 ' x 8' table will measure 44" this way.
a 4 1/2' x 9' table will measure 50" this way.
